Glass Boat Restaurant

Welsh Back, BRISTOL, BS1 4SB

2 rosettes

This 1920s barge once earned its crust along the Severn Estuary but is now moored up in the heart of the city, converted to a decidedly handsome restaurant with walnut floors and a beautiful marble bar. The menu offers modern bistro fare with plenty of imagination, plying a course from chicken liver parfait with onion jam, or crispy frogs' legs with wild garlic risotto, to chicken suprême with celeriac, Savoy cabbage with lardons and honey-roasted swede. Seafood dishes are full of appeal too - perhaps a creamy bourride of monkfish and mussels. Finish with zesty lemon tart with crème fraîche. Theatre-goers can enjoy a good-value supper until 7pm.
