GB1 Restaurant

The Grand Brighton, 97-99 King's Road, BRIGHTON, BN1 2FW

2 rosettes

Turn your back on the stunning Italianate Victorian design at this seafront landmark and enter the cool, clean lines of the GB1 restaurant. Seafood is the thing here, with a menu as bright and contemporary as the surroundings. If platters of oysters, crab or prawns, herby fish soup or fish fingers (actually panko-coated whitebait) in a bap with fries don't appeal, go for more exotic scallops marinated in sashimi with asparagus, vanilla and chervil. Meat-eaters can choose from a selection of grills, and desserts are as well handled: perhaps multi-flavoured lime pannacotta with chocolate frangipane cake, a pistachio cone and a dollop of mascarpone, all as pretty as a picture.
