When the Watsons acquired this harbour side restaurant over 50 years ago, they were continuing a local tradition stretching back to Victorian days of serving pearly-fresh fish and seafood from the day's catch, with views over the sea. The cooking keeps things as simple as the prime materials require: Lyme Bay scallop and Portland crab chowder, deep-fried squid with aļoli and lemon, seafood platters, and oven-roasted hake with steamed tender stem broccoli. There are occasional forays into the modern cookbook. Not a fish fan? Then try braised lamb shanks with red wine reduction. Finish with Amaretto chocolate torte.
