The Mulberry Tree

2 rosettes

The Mulberry Tree's expansive dining area is done out in light contemporary style, with wooden floors, bare tables and patterned designer wallpaper. Diners come for well-tuned British cooking with European accents using local ingredients from a kitchen that tends its own garden, pigs and chickens. Skilfully woven flavours and precise timings are hallmarks. Start with smoked eel with leeks vinaigrette, Gentleman's Relish and dill and move on to roast pheasant breast with red cabbage, sprouts, pancetta jam, fondant potato and chestnut purée, or pan-fried hake fillet with ratatouille, mash and a white wine, thyme and mussel velouté. End on custard tart with cranberry jam.
