Dine where Agatha Christie, Noel Coward and other pre-war luminaries once dined, in this classic art deco hotel off the South Devon coast. At low tide you can walk to it, at high tide you ride a tractor on stilts. Guests buy into the period atmosphere by dressing up to the nines in black tie and evening gowns for dinner in the all-original ballroom. Prepare to welcome back the 1930s. A frequently changing menu typically offers poached Beesands lobster tail, lobster mousse, chickpea and red pepper salad; pan-fried halibut with cauliflower purée, gnocchi, brown shrimp, asparagus and Muscatel butter; and banana soufflé with crème caramel.
