The Gatsby

97 High Street, BERKHAMSTED, HP4 2DG

1 rosettes

This stylish modern brasserie occupies a handsome art deco space with plenty of pictures of the golden age of British cinema. A starter of chargrilled artichoke and Swiss chard risotto, for example, might have caught Fellini's interest while the smoked fish kedgeree with soft boiled egg and Chiltern eye might have been down Hitchcock's street. Next up, fillet of halibut is served with a moules marinière sauce, lamb tagine is enriched with almonds and dates, and roast Barbary duck breast is dressed with a blackberry and anise sauce. Finish with treacle tart with candied pecans or a classic tarte Tatin with rum and raisin ice cream.
