Family-run since 1979, this popular bistro-style restaurant occupies the ground floors of five Georgian townhouses, opposite the famous Assembly Rooms and the Costume Museum. Horseracing prints abound, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the open-plan dining room has well-spaced, smartly laid tables. The French-oriented food is at the richer end of bistro eating, the seasonal menu offering simply prepared dishes using good quality produce. Typically tuck into a smooth, well-flavoured potato, garlic and broccoli soup, followed by salmon with a Thai red curry and coconut sauce and served with coriander and pak choi, and a traditional brandy snap wafer filled with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate sauce.
