Cameron House on Loch Lomond,
BALLOCH,
Alexandria,
G83 8QZ
Cameron House is in a great location on the banks of Loch Lomond. The Cameron Grill, notable for its low lighting, open-to-view kitchen and mural depicting various carousing chaps from long-gone clan days, is just one eating option here (see entry, Martin Wishart, for one of the others). Naturally enough the grill's the thing, with steaks a strength. Grilled veal chop, of excellent quality, has been an estimable alternative, served with Madeira sauce, caramelised apple and diced pepper and onion, and might follow chicken liver parfait within a ring of bramble chutney and, around that, a jelly of orange liqueur. Crème brûlée flavoured with heather honey and served with lavender honeycomb brings a good Scottish scent to a classic.
