The Hand & Trumpet

A deck to the rear of this relaxed country pub overlooks sizeable grounds, which include a large pond. The pub has a comfortable interior with original floors, old furniture, open fires and rugs. Six cask ales and over 70 malt whiskies are offered, along with a locally sourced menu. Typical dishes on the comprehensive menu are crispy duck leg with egg noodle salad; crab and samphire quiche with lemon and crème fraîche potato salad; Buttercross Farm pork and black pudding sausages, mash, buttered greens and onion gravy; smoked haddock, red mullet and mussel chowder with bacon and sweetcorn dumplings; and apple and treacle pudding, apricot compôte and clotted cream. A children's menu is available. There is a cider festival and a hog roast in August.
