A deck to the rear of this relaxed country pub overlooks sizeable grounds, which include a large pond. The pub has a comfortable interior with original floors, old furniture, open fires and rugs. Six cask ales and over 70 malt whiskies are offered, along with a locally sourced menu. Typical dishes are potted Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire cheese with chicory, grape and walnut salad; venison, pigeon and duck meatloaf with bubble-and-squeak. There is a beer festival in the last week of January and a cider festival and hog roast in August.
