The White Horse Inn

Badger Lane, WOOLLEY MOOR, DE55 6FG

This 200-year-old pub sits in two acres of gardens amidst beautiful countryside; the nearby Ogston Reservoir is where Dame Ellen MacArthur learned her sailing skills. The building's interior has been meticulously updated, with exposed solid stone walls and precisely laid flagstone floors providing the backdrop for an abundance of polished tables and chairs in both the bar area and bright garden conservatory. Peak Ales are well kept and wines sold by the glass are numerous, but this is primarily a food destination. Cauliflower and Stilton soup makes a flavoursome starter, to be followed perhaps by crispy pork belly with spring onion mash and smoked bacon sauce; or butternut squash, pea and rosemary risotto.
