A traditional village free house with large gardens, The Crown Inn is popular with walkers and well supported by locals and visitors alike. Excellent food and drink are a priority here, with good ales as well as 23 local ciders and perries. Daily specials include trout fishcakes with garlic mayonnaise; cider-braised ham with free-range eggs and chunky chips; pheasant Kiev with sweet potato mash and stir-fried cabbage. There is an outside summertime bar in the garden on Saturday nights and a May Day Bank Holiday beer and cider festival.
