The Giants Rest

With the famous chalk figure of the Long Man of Wilmington standing guard further up the lane, this family-owned Victorian free house can properly claim to be one of the most Druid-friendly pubs in Sussex. The rustic wooden-floored bar is decorated with Beryl Cook prints. Take a seat at a pine table, each with its own wooden puzzle, and order some home-prepared food: wild garlic king prawns; shepherd's pie topped with cumin mashed potato; Sussex Downs rabbit and bacon pie; slow-roast belly of pork; warm haloumi salad; and hake fishcakes.
