11 The Green, WILLINGTON, DE65 6BP
Following sympathetic refurbishment, the 150-year-old Dragon has changed considerably from the one its owners bought in 2010. New features are a beer garden, which borders the Trent & Mersey Canal, and a 70-seater restaurant in the adjacent cottage. A much larger kitchen is now capable of providing a wide range of dishes, such as turbot with thyme rösti potato, mussel and pancetta velouté; slow-cooked short rib of beef with smoked garlic mash, kale and bourguignon garnish; and risotto, bubble-and-squeak, crispy egg and rocket salad. An August beer festival features real ales from the Boot brewery a mile away in Repton.
