Pearson's Arms

Once owned by the infamous Kray twins, this beach-facing pub was built to accommodate workers building the railway line between the town and Canterbury - now a popular rambling route called the Crab and Winkle Way. Today, this friendly pub proffers all good Kentish things, including ales such as Timothy Taylor Landlord, and Symonds cider; drinks can be served in plastic cups for taking to the beach. Chef Richard Phillips' flavoursome food is fresh and also sourced as locally as possible: fresh Whitstable rock oysters with sherry vinegar shallots and tabasco could precede a plate of roast saddle of Kentish rabbit; or organic salmon and crab fishcake.
