The Red Lion

Hope Square, WEYMOUTH, DT4 8TR

Directly opposite the old Devenish Brewery in the heart of Weymouth, this former brewery tap has long been a famous ale house, popular with locals and visitors, and with strong links with the local RNLI - it is after all the lifeboat crew's nearest pub. Expect a comfortably rustic feel to the rambling rooms, with wood floors, candles on scrubbed tables, eclectic furnishings, period fireplaces, walls adorned with lifeboat pictures and artefacts, newspapers to peruse, and a cracking bar serving 80 rums, five ales and traditional ciders. To eat, there are platters to share; a pint or half pint of prawns; proper surf 'n' turf; and the 'legendary' home-made steak and Life Boat Ale pie, chips and 'not so mushy' peas.
