The Black Duck

Church Hill, WARBLETON, TN21 9BD

The Black Duck was so named by owners Gary and Nicola Kinnell a few years ago, to commemorate all those poor birds used as chimney sweeps in medieval times. The pub's somewhat modern-looking exterior belies its venerable age, confirmed inside by scrubbed beams, timber framing and an inglenook fireplace and bread oven at the heart of the building. A huge cellar keeps Harvey's beers in tip-top condition. The menu proposing popular pub fare is backed by a dozen specials every day, including several vegetarian options. The rear beer garden with picnic benches enjoys lovely views over rolling downland.
