Raglan Arms

Llandenny, USK, NP15 1DL

This mid 19th-century stone-built pub enjoys a pretty village location. Dine at rustic tables around the bar, where you'll find Wye Valley Bitter, or in the conservatory. In summer, head for the decked area outside and soak up the sun while you eat. Everything is freshly prepared in the kitchen - even the bread is baked here and bacon is cured on site. The menus change on a daily basis and there is a firm emphasis on locally sourced food, which is so good it holds an AA Rosette. Some dishes, such as imam bayildli with crème fraîche or vanilla and bay leaf pannacotta with Sauternes and poached saffron pears, reflect an enthusiasm for international flavours, while others like Welsh rarebit, beef stew with dumplings, and slow-roast shoulder of Llanlowell pork, take their cues from traditional British cuisine. A Raglan hallmark is its excellent selection of British and French cheeses for dessert.
