The Raglan Arms

Llandenny, USK, NP15 1DL

At the heart of a small village tucked between Tintern Forest and the rich agricultural lands of the Usk Valley, this neat, stone-built 19th-century pub continues to receive praise for its varied and frequently changing menu. The head chef and his small team use high quality ingredients for the imaginative menu. The pub is keen to reduce food miles and most suppliers are within a nine mile radius; from further afield, the fish is delivered from Cornwall each day. So try a starter of Cornish hand-dived scallops and Charley Barley black pudding, cauliflower purée and apple salad, then follow on with the chef's signature dish of duck, chips and gravy; or a vegetarian choice of crèpinette de Byaldi, garlic crisps, heritage tomatoes and goats' cheese dressing, and finish with Valronha dark, chocolate fondant, roast beetroot ice cream, caramel caviar and poppyseed tuile biscuit. Whether eating in, or just enjoying a pint brewed in Raglan just three miles away, visitors are sure of a warm welcome. A change of hands in early 2015.
