Pelham Road, UPTON MAGNA, SY4 4TZ
Named after the popular local landmark Haughmond Hill, this refurbished coaching inn has reclaimed its position at the heart of the local community since Martin and Melanie Board took over. Occupying a mezzanine in a newly converted barn, the upmarket Basil's restaurant offers such dishes as goats' cheese pannacotta, ginger and beetroot; and pan-fried duck breast, duck hash and blood orange jus. Alternatively, order fish and chips; steak and oxtail pie; or squash and cashew nut tart in the bar. Local Salopian Shropshire Gold is one of the regular ales on tap, and there are 10 wines by the glass.
