The Port William

Trebarwith Strand, TINTAGEL, PL34 0HB

Occupying one of the best locations in Cornwall, this former harbourmaster's house lies directly on the coastal path, 50 yards from the sea, which means the views of the Trebarwith Strand are amazing. There is an entrance to a smugglers' tunnel at the rear of the ladies' toilet! Obviously there's quite an emphasis on fresh fish, but there's no shortage of other options. A typical menu starts with pulled pork with smoky barbecue sauce and toasted croûton, or sautéed Cornish mushrooms with peppercorn sauce and crumbled blue cheese; then moves on to mains such as gourmet burger with chunky chips; ocean pie; local mussels; or vegetable red Thai curry. If you've room, check the specials board for the desserts of the day.
