Just a short stroll from miles of unspoilt Suffolk coastline, you'll find this friendly pub. In 1910, local landowner Stuart Ogilvie started building a seaside holiday village in Aldringham-cum-Thorpe; Ogilvie renamed his creation Thorpeness. The original pub predated all this, but unfortunately it burnt down. This 1995 rebuild stocks real ales from independent local breweries, and serves locally sourced produce such as grilled cod, garden peas and chunky chips, and Procters Old English sausages, creamed mash and roast onion gravy. Very much a community pub, the kitchen also supplies preserves, pies and pastries to the attached village store.
