The Wheatsheaf Combe Hay

COMBE HAY, Bath, BA2 7EG

Settled on a hillside brushing the verdant valley where the cinema classic The Titfield Thunderbolt was filmed, this long, whitewashed pub has served the village for over 250 years. Its rustic charm is enhanced by country-chic furnishings and decor; massive wooden tables, sporting prints and open log fires offer a timeless scene whilst the valley view terraced garden makes an ideal spot for outdoor drinking and dining. The wet side of the business offers ciders matured just down the lane and beers from Butcombe brewery. The chef and his team put West Country produce at the heart of the menus, so expect starters such as rabbit pasty, rabbit liver parfait and carrot ketchup, and confident mains like slow-roast belly of Somerset pork, ham hock hash, pig's cheek, black pudding and spring onions. Equally zesty bar snacks are available, whilst a set market menu is very popular.
