The Selborne Arms
High Street,
SELBORNE,
GU34 3JR
The massive chimney appearing to block the way in to this simply furnished village pub is known as a baffle entry. Once inside, you'll find homely bars with hop-strewn beams, a huge fireplace, up to seven (in summer) real ales from micro-breweries, and Mr Whitehead cider. Keen supporters of Hampshire Fare (a community interest company), the kitchen prepares steamed oxtail and kidney pudding; Blackmoor pigeon faggot on bubble-and-squeak; and whole grilled plaice. A beer festival is held over the first weekend in October. The village, overlooked by glorious beech 'hangers', is where naturalist Gilbert White lived.

This pub has won various awards up to 2 years ago. Imagine our disappointement on receiving surly service by a young team serving who not interested in offering any kind of service. The food was absolutely diabolical and expensive. We spent £76 on very poor food and couldn't even get a coffee to finish. Everything was just too much trouble and beleive me, it showed.
