The Bull at Benenden

The Street, BENENDEN, TN17 4DE

A huge brick-built inglenook fireplace takes centre stage at one side of the bar in this appealing inn overlooking Benenden's green and village cricket pitch. Centre stage at the bar itself is the considered selection of local real ales sourced by mine host Mark; ales from Chiddingstone's Larkins brewery lead the hop assault, whilst Kentish cider also puts in an appearance. The Bull dates from 1601 and has striking and unusual chinoiserie windows. The interior boasts wooden floors, scrubbed tables and an eclectic array of antique furniture. The Bull could lay claim to being pie and pudding central, with some superb gourmet examples produced by the kitchen team: slow cooked local game suet crust or smokey haddock, hard boiled egg and spinach puff pastry just a taste of the individual creations here, in addition to a comprehensive pub grub selection. In summer, head outside to the secret garden.
