In the beautiful Meon Valley, this 17th-century coaching inn has winter fires, low beams, uneven floors and lots of nooks and crannies. In summer, enjoy a pint of Ringwood Best and Sharp's Doom Bar in the secluded rear garden. Home-cooked food makes good use of locally sourced ingredients in simple snacks such as a home-cooked ham and tomato sandwich through to hearty mains along the lines of home-made faggots with mash, peas and gravy or home-made beef lasagne and chips.
