Woodhill, STOKE ST GREGORY, Taunton, TA3 6EW
Bought by Ron and Irene Browning in 1979, this Somerset Levels pub is now run by sons Stephen and Richard and their other halves, making it very much a family-run concern. The brothers are also the chefs, responsible for its well-deserved reputation for good food, while partners Sally and Leonie look after front of house. Classic pub dishes appear alongside the more modern seared scallops with sweet chilli and lime, which might be followed by roasted West Country lamb rump with redcurrant sauce. West County real ales aplenty and farmhouse ciders in the bar include Exmoor Ale and Thatchers cider.
