Rose & Crown

Woodhill, STOKE ST GREGORY, Taunton, TA3 6EW

Bought by Ron and Irene Browning back in the late 1970s, this Somerset Levels pub is now run by sons Stephen and Richard and their other halves, making it very much a family-run concern. The brothers are also the chefs, responsible for its well-deserved reputation for good food, while partners Sally and Leonie look after front of house. Classic pub dishes appear alongside the more modern such as warm dressed lemon pepper chicken salad, which might be followed by crispy pressed Somerset pork belly with tangy orange sauce. Sandwiches, burgers and paninis are also on offer. There's West Country real ales aplenty and farmhouse ciders in the bar include Exmoor Ale and Thatchers.
