The Green Dragon Inn
Church Road,
STOKE FLEMING,
nr Dartmouth,
TQ6 0PX
A tunnel leading from Blackpool Sands to the pub's cellars may have been a smugglers route to this medieval inn in the beautiful South Hams. The seafaring connection remains; the current landlord, a keen solo sailor, has turned the interior into a haven of boating memorabilia, including charts, flags, sextants and sailing pictures. Devon-made beers and wine, and Somerset scrumpy slake the thirst of walkers from nearby Dartmouth, whilst the great value bar meals can satisfy the largest of appetites with lamb and aubergine pie or sausage and pork cassoulet.

We arrived at 1400, and our host, Peter, got to us at the bar at 1403. We had the menu in our hands and he told us that the kitchen closed at 1400 and there was no food. Asked if he could give us just bread slices or a baguette, and he refused saying that he was not prepared to upset his kitchen staff. One of our party said that we had walked for two and a half hours to get to the pub, to which Peter replied, that's not my problem.
