The Stables Pub and Restaurant

Beamish Hall Hotel, Beamish, STANLEY, DH9 0YB

The stone-floored, beamed bar is the perfect spot to sample the pub's own real ales, brewed on site at their microbrewery. The beer festival in the third week of September will get you even more closely acquainted, while a cider festival is held during the second weekend of December. The pub, in the former mansion house stables, was a courtyard for alfresco eating and drinking, but if the weather's on the chilly side there's always the option to cheer up your day by enjoying a drink by a roaring fire. Regional producers supply the best local ingredients from which are crafted exemplary meals. Try perhaps Thai crab cakes with lime and chilli jam; followed by the trio of Knitsley Farm sausages, buttered mash, Beamish Ale gravy and crispy onion rings; or a classic fish pie and winter greens.
