The Yew Tree Inn

Long Lane, SPURSTOW, CW6 9RD

Built by the Earl of Crewe, this is a sympathetically refurbished 19th-century pub. Inside, the original beams and open fires are a reminder of the pub's history, while the terrace is a more modern addition and perfect for summer dining. Up to eight real ales and two draught ciders testify to the pub's serious attention to quality refreshments, and the Easter weekend beer festival should not be missed. But diners are well rewarded too, with the kitchen producing seasonal menus driven by local produce. Sticky baby back ribs with braised cabbage, fennel and apple make an irresistible starter, and any main course served with beef dripping chips will not disappoint.
