Long Lane, SPURSTOW, CW6 9RD
Built by the Earl of Crewe, this is a sympathetically refurbished 19th-century pub. Inside, the original beams and open fires are a reminder of the pub's history, while the terrace is a more modern addition and perfect for summer dining. Up to eight real ales are available and the Easter beer festival, from Good Friday to Easter Monday, shouldn't be missed. As well as Westons Stowford Press, there is a guest cider on handpump. A seasonal menu is driven by local produce and might include beer-battered haddock, braised beef brisket, or pan-seared lamb's liver.
