5-7 High Street, SPALDWICK, Huntingdon, PE28 0TD
Dating from 1679, this former coaching inn is a successful pub and restaurant; it has moved with the times, yet retained its rustic charm and character. The bar, with its low ceilings and wooden floor, serves local real ales and bar snacks, while the restaurant menu majors on all the pub favourites: baked camembert served with home-made marmalade and warm crusty bread; chicken breast wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cream cheese and asparagus; and chocolate brownie served with warm chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. Tables on the lawns and a terraced patio are much sought after, especially during the pub's popular annual ale and cider festival.
