The Spur

SLINDON, Arundel, BN18 0NE

Set just outside the village of Slindon on top of the rolling South Downs, this 17th-century pub is a an ideal stopping-off point on a day out in the country. It has been praised for its friendly atmosphere and for generous portions of food. Outside are large pub gardens and a courtyard, inside is an open-plan bar and restaurant, warmed by crackling log fires. Daily-changing bar meals are on the blackboard, and may include lamb cutlets, steak-and-kidney pie, and fresh fish and shellfish. The restaurant menu changes every few months, and a typical selection of dishes from this includes seafood risotto, half shoulder of Southdown lamb, and goats' cheese and roasted pepper savoury cheesecake. A skittle alley and function room are also available.
