Up to nine real ales are served at this family-friendly pub on the south side of the River Trent, where there's a beer festival twice a year. Built as a coaching inn during the 17th century, it retains its warm and atmospheric interior. Several hundred water jugs hang from the ceilings, while the walls display an abundance of brewery and railway memorabilia. Traditional food is lovingly prepared by the landlady; main meals focus on pub classics such as home-made steak-and-kidney pie; ham, eggs and chips; lasagne; curry; steaks and daily specials. Monday night is quiz night, and there's folk music every Tuesday.
