The Rose and Crown

Perry Wood, SELLING, Nr Faversham, ME13 9RY

The ghost of Hammond Smith, murdered after a boozy day in 1889, may join you for a pint but don't let his friendly presence detract from the pleasure of this rambling, low-beamed 16th-century inn. Packed with character via the inglenooks, horse brasses and corn dollies, Goldings hops are draped around a bar offering Harvey's and Adnams real ales plus Biddenden cider. Descend to the restaurant for home-cooked Kent fish pie; confit duck; game pie; or brie, bacon and walnut jacket potato. The flower-festooned garden is made for summer eating and drinking enjoyment.
