The Ship Inn

Wading birds flock here to feed on the extensive sands of Red Wharf Bay, making the Ship's waterside beer garden a birdwatcher's paradise on warm days. In the Kenneally family's hands for over 40 years, the pub faces east on the lee side of a hill, sheltered from prevailing winds and catching the morning and afternoon sun perfectly. Before the age of steam, sailing ships landed cargo here from all over the world; now the boats bring fresh Conwy Bay fish and seafood to the kitchens of this traditional free house. Real ales are carefully tended and a single menu applies to both bars and restaurant. Typical starters include a charred bundle of asparagus with a balsamic and honey dressing; and frittata of locally reared duck egg with curried mayonnaise and seasonal salad. Move on to bangers and mash with onion gravy or a minted lamb burger with sour cream, chips and a Greek-style side salad. Other options include lunchtime sandwiches and wraps and a separate children's menu.
