An inviting combination of rustic, cosy village inn and chic, contemporary dining in the airy conservatory restaurant draws in a dedicated crowd of regulars and appreciative diners keen to share head chef Alan Oxlade's passion for the finest local foodstuffs. The pub, true to its name, specialises in mutton dishes, and is proud to be a member of HRH The Prince of Wales' Mutton Renaissance Club. The signature dish is Welsh organic mountain mutton, slow roasted for seven hours so it just 'falls off the bone'. Other dishes that might tempt are 'Granchio torte' - Italian-style crab cakes with Avjar pepper sauce, or 'Farmyard Fracas' - pan-fried lambs' liver and bacon. The walled garden is a popular retreat, or relax by the open fire over a glass of Loddon ale.
