The Pierhouse Hotel & Seafood Restaurant

With breathtaking views to the islands of Lismore and Mull, it would be hard to imagine a more spectacular setting for this family-run hotel and renowned seafood restaurant with one AA Rosette. Once home to the piermaster (hence the name), the distinctive whitewashed building now houses a popular bar (with 50 malt whiskies), pool room, terrace and dining area, and offers the finest seasonal Scottish seafood, meat, game and vegetables. Overlooking the pier, the Ferry Bar serves burgers and seafood dishes, with the addition of filled ciabattas at lunchtime. Meanwhile a typical three-course restaurant meal might start with Cullen skink, oysters or scallops, before progressing to grilled lobster or spinach and parmesan potato gnocchi. The tempting desserts include Pierhouse ice creams and sorbets, and vanilla crème brûlée. Twelve individually designed bedrooms, some with king-size beds and superb loch views, and a couple of family rooms.
