The Bell Inn

A well-restored former coaching inn in Alresford's Georgian main street, where Hampshire real ales hold their own against contenders from Cornwall and Devon, and 18 wines are available by the glass. The bar dining area and candlelit restaurant offer game terrine, apple, pear and fig chutney; and smoked haddock and mussel chowder to start; then steak and Guinness pie, mash, greens and gravy; and confit of French duck leg, dauphinoise potatoes, spinach and cassis sauce. There's a good value two-course menu available at various times during the week. Station Road. opposite the inn. leads to the famous Watercress Line railway.
