The Old Crown

Lodge Road, MESSING, CO5 9TU

After many years as regulars, Malcolm and Penny Campbell took over this lovely old pub a few years back. The Old Crown calls itself a 'bistro pub' and is right in the heart of the lovely village of Messing, proving very popular with walkers and cyclists. Dogs are welcome in the bar and the atmosphere throughout is warm and cosy, with open fires in the winter and outside tables in summer. The food is all home cooked and sourced locally whenever possible, and there's a delicatessen on site. There's plenty of choice on the handwritten menu - from warm pigeon breast and sautéed wild mushroom bruschetta, to lamb curry; steamed game pudding; or cassoulet of belly pork, pancetta and Toulouse sausages.
