The Sun Inn

MARTON, SY21 8JP

Probably about 300 years old, the attractive, stone-built Sun Inn stands on a corner in a quiet hamlet. Offa's Dyke Path runs nearby on its 177-mile route from Sedbury Cliffs on the Severn estuary to Prestatyn. The Gartell family runs this pub very much as a convivial local, with darts, dominoes, regular quiz nights and Hobsons real ales from Cleobury Mortimer. It's well respected as a dining venue, with the Gartells offering modern British dishes such as braised local venison with liquorice and blackcurrant, red cabbage, beetroot and parsnip chips; roast whole sea bass with peppers and salsa verde; or butternut squash, sweet potato, peppers and pak choi in mild coconut curry.
