64 Ditton Hill Road, LONG DITTON, KT6 5JD
With its large, south-facing beer garden, The Ditton is clearly a popular community local. Playing their part of course are beers from Sambrook's, Surrey Hills and Truman's and a good choice of wines by the glass. A typical menu offers ciabattas, wraps and jacket potatoes; potato skins topped with Stilton and bacon; toad-in-the-hole with bubble-and-squeak, fried onions and gravy; and vegetable lasagne with garlic bread and dressed salad. Fish dishes are there too, such as breaded wholetail scampi; as well as beef and Cajun chicken burgers; and home-made, hand-stretched pizzas. Children's main courses arrive with an ice lolly. Those irresistible old favourites, sticky date and toffee pudding, and chocolate and caramel tart, both with Yorvale vanilla ice cream, are characteristic desserts. Skittle alley league nights are every Monday, and quiz nights are Tuesday. Summer barbecues are held in the garden and live music backs a popular June beer and cider festival.
