71 Kinnerton Street, LONDON, SW1X 8ED
Known locally as The Village Pub, this early 19th-century hostelry's other name is a reference to the 1st Earl of Wilton. In summer it is distinguished by fabulous flower-filled baskets and window boxes. High settles and bookcases create cosy, individual seating areas in the air-conditioned interior, and a conservatory covers the old garden. Shepherd Neame ales, including Spitfire, accompany traditional pub fare - ploughman's, sandwiches, burgers, sausages with bubble-and-squeak and onion gravy; and home-made specials such as pies, curries, lasagne and chilli con carne add to the choices.
