1-3 Parson's Green, Fulham, LONDON, SW6 4UL
With a triangular walled front terrace overlooking Parson's Green, the late 18th-century, former coaching inn and Victorian gin palace is a substantial sandstone pub. It's a destination for lovers of British pub food and interesting real ales and wines, with a restaurant in the former coach house, an upstairs bar, and a luxurious private dining area. The interior is a pleasing blend of polished mahogany and wooden and flagstone floors, open fires and contemporary lighting. Bar snacks are very tempting - tempura cauliflower, chilli mayo; and pan-fried chorizo being just two to get you started. Every dish on the menu comes with a recommended beer to drink, such partnering forming part of the pub's Beer Academy Courses. For instance, a starter of salt and pepper squid with spiced mayonnaise is paired with Goose Island 312; and a main of steak focaccia with caramelised onion, should be washed down with Adnams Broadside. It's good for Sunday brunch, summer barbecues and its four annual beer festivals - American, European, British and Old Ale. At any one time the pub has at least 135 bottled beers from around the world.
