Just off Chelsea's famous Kings Road, a three-storey Georgian back-street pub built by the same crew that constructed St Luke's church over the way. Inside, leather sofas dot the spacious informal bar area, where your can enjoy a pint of Cornish Coaster or London Pride. A brief, daily changing menu offers a good choice of modern English food with a twist, but if further ideas are needed, consult the specials board and dine in the restaurant. Starters on the main menu might include mackerel and dill fishcake with spicy tomato ketchup; mussels and clams with cider, red onion and cream sauce; and sautéed chicken livers with smoked Black Forest bacon and broad beans. Typical main courses are baked codling fillet with Parmentier potatoes and mustard lentils; pan-fried sea bass with caramelised shallot and gremolata; and courgette, sun-blushed tomato and feta risotto. There are more than 30 bins, with French producers just about taking the lead, plus many wines by the glass. When the sun shines the outdoor terrace is highly popular.
