Greenwich Union Pub
Description
Comfortable leather sofas and flagstone floors help to keep the original character of this refurbished pub intact. Interesting beers (including chocolate and raspberry!), lagers and even freshly-squeezed orange juice, along with a beer garden make this a popular spot. The food is an eclectic range of traditional and modern dishes drawn from around the world. Everything is freshly prepared and sourced locally where possible; for example the fish comes straight from Billingsgate Market. The lunch menu might include risotto of beetroot and parmesan, mackerel escabeche, or steak and Meantime London Stout pie. Try tempting bar snacks in the evening like crispy squid and home-made cocktail sauce, Spanish tortilla, or home-made Scotch egg and curry mayo. For heartier dishes expect slow roast shoulder of lamb, braised celeriac and mustard parsley crust. The Meantime Brewing Co., which brews the beers on offer, was the only UK brewery to win awards at the 2004 Beer World Cup.
