The White Lion Inn

Incredibly parts of this attractive family-run inn are reputed to date back over 1,200 years. It still retains a slate floor and oak-beamed ceiling, and there is an old salt cellar by the inglenook fireplace. The Cole family have been running the inn for more than 25 years and have restored and preserved many aspects of traditional village life revolving around the pub, including reinstating the snug next to the bar (dogs are allowed in here). The food is traditional, home cooked, and wherever possible locally sourced. Look out for grilled fillet of plaice; chicken curry; goats' cheese, mushroom and leek tart; or roast lamb shoulder. Sandwiches, hot baguettes and jacket potatoes are also available.
