65/67 High Street, LINLITHGOW, EH49 7ED
This eye-catching building at the heart of Linlithgow has only been a pub since 1981, but its pedigree stretches back a further 500 years to when royalty lived at the nearby palace. The eponymous Marys were ladies-in-waiting to Linlithgow-born Mary, Queen of Scots. Low ceilings, striking dressed-stone walls, and period and antique furnishings give the pub a real sense of atmosphere and history. Caledonian Deuchars IPA and Belhaven St Andrews are on tap along with guest ales; twice-yearly beer festivals are held, whilst robust pub grub includes steak and ale pie, burgers, hot dogs and jacket potatoes.
