The Wild Rabbit

Church Street, KINGHAM, OX7 6YA

From the family behind nearby Daylesford Organic, The Wild Rabbit has already been dubbed 'the poshest pub in Britain' due to its A-list celebrity customers. The 18th-century Cotswold inn has stripped back walls, open fires and simple handcrafted furniture. Local Hook Norton is one of seven beers on tap, and the impeccably sourced wine list displays more than a dozen served by the glass. Two AA Rosettes have been awarded for the seasonal menu which features Daylesford's organic produce, served in the bar and on the terrace all day. Try duck egg, truffle purée, slow-cooked bacon and crispy sourdough; or glazed short rib with sautéed bacon, button mushrooms, baby onions, straw potatoes and red wine sauce. Desserts showing the same attention to detail may include Braeburn apple cheesecake with sorrel and caramelised honey. A beer festival over the Spring Bank Holiday is as good a pretext as any to do a little star gazing.
