The Black Jug

Set close to the railway station, this busy town centre pub is a lovely old city-style pub. You'll find a congenial atmosphere with friendly staff, plenty of ales, an open fire, large conservatory and walled garden. All-day meals are freshly prepared using local ingredients wherever possible; light bites include lost churdle pie - a 17th century creation using bacon and lamb's liver; or smoked haddock and leek risotto, whilst for larger appetites there's ham, free-range egg and chips; and fish pie with green beans and almonds.
