Holt Road, HEVINGHAM, Norwich, NR10 5NP
Victorian philanthropist and landowner Robert Marsham built the Marsham Arms as a roadside hostel for poor farm labourers, and some original features, including the wooden beams and large open fireplace are still evident. Real ales are served straight from the barrel. The seasonal menu uses fresh local produce and may include Thai green vegetable curry; haddock fillet with cheddar and leek gratin; and slow-roasted pork belly with crunchy crackling, creamy mash, apple purée, cider and sage sauce. The spacious garden has a paved patio, and the inn holds a Green Tourism award.
