The Three Tuns

4 Broad Street, HAY-ON-WYE, HR3 5DB

This 16th-century, possibly older, pub has attracted an eclectic roll-call of famous, even infamous, visitors, from singer Marianne Faithfull and pianist Jools Holland, to the Great Train Robbers. In the bar is an old settle, reclaimed from a fire at the pub, and restored so that visitors can continue to sit and enjoy a welcome pint of Wye Valley Bitter or Butty Bach. The menus range from a home-made pizza, baked ciabatta or beer battered haddock and chips to choices such as sirloin steak with field mushroom, beef tomatoes and triple-cooked chips; roasted pumpkin with hazelnuts, salad and ricotta cheese; and apple and blackcurrant strudel, toasted pine nuts and clotted cream.
