67 Main Street, HAWORTH, BD22 8DA
Solidly planted on the steep cobbled road in Haworth's old town, this gritstone inn dates from the days when the Brontė sisters were writing their novels in the village vicarage. The enticing pub is owned by the Timothy Taylor Brewery; their award-winning Yorkshire beers as reliable as the steam trains on the famous heritage railway at the foot of the hill. Escape the hurly-burly and indulge in a home-made pie of the day; lamb's liver, crispy bacon, mash and onion gravy; or a warm pulled pork and BBQ sauce sandwich: no-nonsense, filling fare (with some interesting starters) is the staple here. Each Monday evening the town's celebrated brass band practices upstairs.
